My Favorite Fruit is Peach
Hi everyone! My name is Sam and I'm 8 years old. I go to Oakwood Elementary School and I'm in 3rd grade. Today I want to tell you all about my absolute favorite fruit - peaches!
I just love peaches so much. They are the yummiest, juiciest, sweetest fruit ever. Whenever my mom buys peaches from the grocery store, I get so excited. I can't wait to take a big bite out of one!
Peaches are these delicious round fruits that have a fuzzy skin on the outside. The skin can be yellow or pinkish-orange when the peach is ripe. The inside of a peach is orange and has a big pit or seed in the middle. The flesh around the pit is soft and juicy and just bursts with sweet peachy flavor in your mouth. My favorite way to eat a peach is over the sink so all the juice can dribble down my chin without making a mess. I like to take a big bite and let the juice squirt out and dribble down my face. It's the best! Then I suck all the juice and eat around the pit. By the time I'm done, my face is all sticky but I don't even care because peaches taste THAT good.
In the summer, my mom and dad like to go peach picking at this huge peach orchard near our house. It's a big farm with row after row of peach trees. We go and pick big baskets full of ripe, fresh peaches right off the trees. They are so much better than the ones from the grocery store! Warm from the sunshine, perfectly ripe and juicy. We bring them home and mom makes peach pie, peach jam, peach salsa, and all sorts of other yummy peachy foods. Sometimes we even have peach pie for breakfast! My grandma has a peach tree in her backyard too. She lets me pick the peaches straight from the tree whenever I visit in the summer. I love climbing up into the branches and finding the perfect, plump peaches to pick. Grandma says you can tell if a peach is ready by giving it a little twist - if it comes off easily into your hand, it's ripe and ready to eat! We sit together on her patio eating fresh peaches straight off the tree. She always teases me about having peach juice running down my arms.
At school for lunch, if my mom packs me peaches sometimes the other kids make fun of me for eating \"mushy orange blob\" as they call it. I don't care though because more peaches for me! My best friend Johnny likes peaches too so we just laugh at the other kids while we happily slurp up our peaches.
Did you know there are different types of peaches? My favorites are yellow peaches, but there are also white peaches which have a bright white flesh inside instead of orange. The white ones taste a little bit different - more sweet than tart. There are even flat peaches that are shaped more like a doughnut than a round ball. No matter what though, they all taste amazingly delicious to me.
Besides just eating fresh peaches, we also love peach milkshakes, peach smoothies, peach yogurt, dried peaches, peach gummies, peach jam on toast...pretty much any type of peach food or drink, I'll happily devour it. For my birthday one year, mom made a whole peach cake with peach frosting and peach filling inside. It was heaven!
If I had to pick my favorite peach dish though, it would definitely be my grandma's fresh peach pie. She makes it every summer when the peaches are ready to pick. The filling is made with ripe peaches from her backyard tree and it's perfectly gooey and sweet. The crust is light and flakey and melts in your mouth. We always eat it warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top that melts all over. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
I definitely prefer eating peaches over any other fruit. Apples are ok, but they don't have that burst of sweet juice that peaches do. Oranges and bananas are good too, I guess...but they just can't compare to the delightful taste of a ripe peach. Berries are pretty good, but they're so small! I like being able to take a big bite out of a peach.
Some people say their favorite fruits are exotic ones like starfruit or dragonfruit or lychee. Those are ok, but they're kind of strange and hard to find. I like the classic deliciousness of a peach any day over some crazy looking spiky fruit. Give me a big basket of fresh peaches from the farm and I'm one happy kid! I hope I've convinced you how amazing peaches are. If not, you'll just have to try one for yourself! They only come in season in the summer months, so make sure you stock up. Find a local peach orchard or farmer's market for the best, ripest ones. Then take a big bite, feel the juice dribbling down your chin, and experience true peachy bliss!
That wraps up my essay on why peaches are the best fruit ever. Thanks for reading! I'm going to go grab a snack now...care to guess what it will be? You got it - a couple of delicious, ripe, juicy PEACHES!
