教 学 环 节 设 计 教学环节设计 教学步骤 教学过程设计 I. Show the students the picture on Page 21 of Unit 3. Ask them to look at the picture and discuss: 1. What are they doing? 2. How do you improve your English? II. Introduce the key themes to the students. Warming up III. Ask the students to listen to the five sentences and match the key words in the sentences with the pictures in Activity ①, Warming up. Present the key sentences on the slide and explain their meanings. IV. Ask the students to read the names of the six countries in Activity ②and choose those whose main language is English. 2

I. Ask the students to read the words in the word box on Page 23. Then ask the students to read them after the tape. Listening & II. Show the picture of Bill and Sarah. Ask the Speaking students to listen to a short dialogue and think: Practice (1) Is English a must for the job? III. Play the tape twice and ask the students to practice it after the tape. IV. Present the basic sentences on the blackboard: What’s the job you’ve applied for? Is English a must for the job? V. Ask the students to form groups. And then ask them to discuss and tick whether English is a must for the job positions in Activity ③. Ask the students to pay attention to the tips. VI. Discuss: According to the students’ major and discuss: Is English a must for your future job? 3

Listening & Speaking Practice (2) I. Ask the students to look at the picture on Page 24, and then listen to the dialogue in Activity ④. Ask the students to try to find the answer in the dialogue after listening. How did Leo improve his English? II. Present the ways to improve English: Read English novels and English news online; listen to English songs; watch a lot of English movies: talk with friends in English. III. Ask the students to listen to the dialogue in Activity ④ again and then compare different ways to learn English. Ask the students to pay attention to the methods on the left and think of more ways to learn English. IV. Ask the students to have a discussion: 1. What is the problem with your English? 2. Choose the best way in Activity ③ to improve your English I. Ask the students to work in pairs and discuss more ways to improve English. ConsolidatioII. Ask the students to make a dialogue about English n learning. 4
